Article Writing Profits - How to Write Articles to Change Your Life and Build Your Online Business

by Connie Ragen Green

Connie Ragen GreenArticle writing has been a way for me to improve my writing skills and ability while building a business that can be run from home or from wherever I have an internet connection. This may sound unbelievable, but writing articles has changed by life. Please allow me to explain.

I had always wanted to become a writer. Ever since I was a child I wrote down my ideas for short stories, books, and poetry. By the time I was twelve I had written many poems and stories and was asked regularly by my teachers to write something for the holidays, the end of the school year, or other special event.

Even though I had this early encouragement for my writing, something happened once I was out of school. Everywhere I turned someone was there to tell me that my writing was not good enough. I was rejected on a regular basis for several years, until I finally believed that my writing was no good.

I should not have listened to or believed these people. I should have stayed positive and continued to write. But instead I just stopped writing altogether. For the next twenty years I was a teacher, editing and teaching my students to write, and also working in the real estate industry, again helping others with their writing. But I did no writing of my own. That pain of rejection was still too strong inside of me.

Three years ago that all changed. I was changing my life in many ways at that time. This included leaving my job as a teacher and not being involved in real estate any longer. I sold my house and moved to a new city twenty miles north of where I had been living. And one day in 2005, I started writing again.

When I started writing it was short articles that got me started. I submitted the first one to an online article directory and it was accepted within just a few days! I continued to write on every topic I could think of. It was as if my whole world had shifted. I was expressing my thoughts and ideas through my writing, and it felt wonderful. One day someone asked me what I did, and I answered that I was a writer. I had figured out that if you just keep writing, you are a writer.

I now write regularly throughout each day and make my living with my writing. I write articles to promote my online business and to promote affiliate products and services. I also write eBooks, short reports, and blog posts. My greatest joy is still with teaching others how to write, but I never forget that it all started when I started writing articles.

And now I invite you to join me for free weekly teleseminars that will teach you how to write, market, and sell your articles and ebook to increase your visibility, credibility and passive income by visiting http://www.EbookWritingandMarketingSecrets.com and also learn the technology needed to run an online business.

Alex Mandossian Challenges Me - And All Of You Will Benefit

from Connie Ragen Green

Last night I was speaking with Alex Mandossian. You probably know who he is if you have been online for any period of time at all. Anyway, we were talking about how many articles I had written about teleseminars. I wrote those articles to promote my affiliate link for his various programs. I believe these programs are the best around, so naturally I would want to promote them.

Alex was amazed that with my small list I was still able to come in at #10 in his top 12 affiliates for his last program. I told him that the articles were a big part of me placing so high in the final count, but that the people on my list were the real reason I had done so well.

It was then that he made me the offer I couldn’t refuse. Alex told me that if I could double my list my October 31 he would do a call with me and mail to his list about the courses I teach.

I thought about it for about one nanosecond and then told him that I could do it. So after I hung up the telephone I immediately went to work. It was after eight last nigh, but I knew I had to put certain things into motion if I were to win this challenge. You see, I really do not like to lose. And, more importantly, I like to keep my promises and do what I say I will do.

This is my offer to you. If you are not already on my list, please go over right now to Ebook Writing and Marketing Secrets and sign up. Then send me a message on Twitter letting me know you have signed up. I will send you the link to a course on internet marketing I taught just a few months ago.

Finally, tell at least two people who may be interested in online writing and technology to sign up as well. When I reach my goal I will then offer a teleseminar on affiliate marketing to everyone on my list. I now make enough from this one area to make my house payment each month. Please sign up right away so I can get going with the affiliate training I will be giving you. You will be amazed at how quickly you can start making money with your articles and affiliate marketing.

Articles Are Like Food - Do Your Articles Satisfy Your Readers?

Jennifer A. Thiemeby Jennifer A. Thieme

I’ve read many marketing articles on the internet. Sometimes I read them because I want the information promised in the title. Sometimes I read them because I want to learn new writing skills from the author. Sometimes I read them because the title grabbed me, and like a magnet, my curiosity pulled me into the article.

Regardless of how I got to the marketing article, I have found that there is a good analogy between marketing articles and food. Sometimes the writer prepared a delicious and satisfying meal. Other times the writer threw some slop on the table, leaving me feeling cold and unwelcome. The “satisfying meal” is when the author delivered on the title, and I walked away from the article learning something new and valuable. Even a tiny bit of information, a “snack” so to speak, delivered properly, can be a good experience.

When the article is not satisfying, I find that the author did not deliver on the title. Or, the author took too much time in the opening paragraphs, and made me wade through too much “story” to get to the information I was hoping for. Like going to a restaurant, when I see a title to an article, it is like ordering from the menu. I want what I ordered, not a lot of filler-story (unless the title clearly conveys that the article is a story). I don’t mind some story in a marketing article, but too much story tells me that:

  • the author doesn’t really know what he/she is talking about
  • the author is filling the article to meet a minimum word count
  • the author wants to tell the story and is couching it in a marketing article

Another distinct possiblity is that the author simply has not honed his/her writing skills to the point where he/she can view the marketing article objectively, reading it as if some stranger was reading it. This is an important skill that I think all authors should strive for. Once authors can do this, many common mistakes can be eliminated before the article goes live.

So I’ve come to ask myself: what kind of an author do I want to be? Do I want my readers to go away feeling full and satisfied, or do I want them feeling hungry and dissatisfied after reading one of my articles? The answer is obvious: I want my readers to walk away from my articles with what they are seeking, usually new information. Perhaps the information was not available anywhere else, or perhaps I was able to make the information easily understood. Whatever the person gets, I want it to be a positive and satisfying experience.

Quality matters. A few high-quality marketing articles are much better than many mediocre ones. Why?

  • High quality articles attract high quality readers. Like attracts like.
  • High quality articles say, “I’m an authority on this subject.”
  • High quality articles are more satisfying to YOU, as the author.

There are a lot of authors who seem to only care about churning out lots of lukewarm-slop articles. Don’t be one of them. Deliver on your title; don’t tell a lot of story; and do your best to make sure your readers walk away from your articles glad they found you.

Day 7 - Writing Your Personal Story Article

Hello, and welcome to Day 7 of the Lieurance-King Fall 2008 Article Challenge.dinnerMany valuable and helpful articles are ones that tell a personal story rather than giving instructions or tips. All you have to do to write a personal story article is write a descriptive title, tell your story, and sum up what you learned from it or how it’s changed your world view.

The personal story should be about your personal experience, but be sure you recognize the difference between a personal story and a too-personal story.

For more about this, read the tip for Day 7 in the free e-book, 21 Tips - a 21-Day Course in Effective Article Marketing, that you will receive when you sign up to accept the challenge by filling in your name and email address in the boxes above.

Challenge Yourself To Write Articles - You Have What It Takes To Be A Successful Writer

from Connie Ragen Green

Challenging yourself to write a specific number of articles during a period of time will take discipline, commitment, and determination. It is no wonder that these are also the traits of successful people. Even though I love to write, I also take my writing very seriously. I encourage you to do the same.

During the spring of 2007 I challenged myself to write 100 articles in 100 days. Many of you may have heard about this on one of my teleseminars or from hearing Jeff Herring talk about it. Jeff encouraged me to go for my goal and for that I will always be grateful. Unfortunately, I did not write 100 articles during those 100 days. It only took me 78 days and by day 100 I had written 112 articles. If I had not taken my own challenge, I would not be writing to all of you right now.

Reach a little higher and stretch a little further with your writing. Do not allow anyone to tell you that your writing is not good enough or that you should be doing something else. I did that for twenty years before I started writing again. If you are a writer you feel it deep inside. It is as much a part of who you are as the color of your eyes.

As you embark on this season’s challenge, imagine the possibilities that can come about because you have chosen to follow your passion. My life has completely changed because of my article writing. It has opened doors that would never have been opened, and given me a lifestyle I only dreamed of in the past. So go ahead, sign up for the challenge, and enjoy the ride.
