Today’s Article Writing Tip

article writing

Today is Day 1 of the 100 Articles in 100 Days Marathon Challenge.

I know that, to many people, writing 100 articles in 100 days, which basically means writing a new article every day for the next 3 months, seems almost impossible. Yet, once you get in the habit of writing an article every day, you’ll be surprised that it isn’t nearly as difficult as you thought it was going to be.

But here’s my tip for today - write your article first thing in the morning, before you do anything else.  Okay, you might want to drink a cup of coffee first and maybe even get dressed. But then, write your article.

If you write your article first thing every morning, you won’t have to worry about it for the rest of the day. You’ll be finished. Plus, you’ll feel very productive for the entire day.

Try it!

Don’t Forget Your Call to Action

action! If you’ve accepted our current article challenge, by now you should have many new articles posted to various article directories. So what is your purpose in marketing these articles? And where does your purpose come into play? In your resource box, of course. So, before you submit any new articles to article directories, figure out what your purpose is. What do you want readers to do when they click on that link in your resource box?

If your only call to action in your resource box is for readers to visit your blog or website, then you’re probably disappointed that you aren’t getting more clients or customers from your articles.

However, if your call to action says something like “visit my website and find out how to receive two free e-books for writers/widows/nature lovers/you name it here,” then you’re probably thrilled at the way your mailing list is growing, and you’re making good use of your articles.

Challenge Checkpoint!

Checkpoint flag Okay, all you article writers, time to check in to see how everyone is progressing.

This time the article challenge is a little different. Usually, we have a listserv for all the writers who accept the challenge. But this time we decided to simply ask everyone to leave a comment that lets us know you’ve accepted the challenge, then check back here every day for an article writing or article marketing tip.

I’m not sure this has worked better. We sure haven’t had many comments, which leads me to wonder whether many people have accepted the challenge and stuck with it. I’ll guess we’ll find out because I’d like anyone who has accepted the challenge to leave a comment here today to let us know how much progress you’ve made.

Several weeks ago, my tip for the day was to suggest you write one article a day and write that article FIRST thing each morning, before you do anything else. I find that, for me, that’s the ONLY way I stay on track with a daily article. If I leave the article for later in the day, something always happens that distracts me and I don’t get an article written. So, now I just make it a habit to write a short article and submit it to at least one article directory first thing every morning. I’ve already done it for today - just like I do every day!

Okay - so check in here today. Leave a comment. If you’re having trouble writing an article each day, let us know. Maybe we can help!

Article Marketing Tip: Provide a Steady Stream of Articles

Welcome to Day 22 of the Lieurance-King Spring 2009 Article Challenge!

Here’s today’s tip:

Try to provide a steady stream of articles (one a day or one every few days) to article directories. Don’t worry about writing dozens of articles and submitting them all at once. Slow and steady wins the race here, too.

Sometimes we can get so caught up in this challenge, we forget what our actual goal is in writing and submitting to article directories.

Our actual goal is - driving more traffic to our websites and blogs.

The best way to do that with articles for article directories is to provide a steady stream of articles rather than submitting dozens at a time and then not submitting any more for weeks or even months.

marathonThink of it this way - article marketing is like a marathon, not a sprint.

Start off too quickly and you might lose energy before you finish the race.

But pace yourself, and continue on slow and steady, and you’ll get to the finish line.

In this case, that means you just need to keep writing and submitting an article or two on a regular basis.

Article Marketing - Writing Articles For Free Search Engine Traffic Starts With Finding The Right Keywords

by Lynne Lee

Lynne LeeArticle Writing is one of the most useful skills you can master. Keyword rich articles are a proven tactic for getting lots of free search engine traffic to your website. Once you can write your own search engine traffic generating articles you will have the key to an ever increasing stream of free search engine traffic.

Writing keyword rich articles is a lot easier than you might think

The first step is to find the right keyword phrases. This is the most important step. You need to identify keyword phrases that are searched for enough but don’t have many competing pages.

If you choose a keyword phrase that has too much competition, you will be wasting your time because you will struggle to attract much search engine traffic. Instead, concentrate your article writing efforts on targeting phrases that will give you a good chance of being ranked on the first page of Google.

Choose a keyword phrase that is searched for enough but doesn’t yet have a lot of competing pages

You will generally have more success with longer keyword phrases.

For example:

  • is he husband material has 119 daily searches and only 230 competing pages
  • signs of a controlling relationship has 860 daily searches and only 3010 competing pages

To research keywords you could use http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/gtrends Wordtracker will suggest related keywords and if you click on the G at the right it is easy to see how many competing pages there are. Or you could use the Google Adwords tool https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal It will give you a lot of information and suggest many alternative keywords.

If you want an excellent keyword research tool that will take away any guesswork, I highly recommend Keyword Elite

When identifying keyword phrases worth targeting, look for keywords that lend themselves to creating a good title. The title is very important when you’re writing articles with a view to getting on the first page of Google so that you can get lots of free search engine traffic.

And the title is crucial if want to harness the viral effect of article writing. Other webmasters won’t be tempted to use your article if you have a boring title.

You need an article title that contains your keyword phrase and also promises really useful information. Your article title needs to suggest that it will draw a large enough audience to encourage your readers to link to your article or re-post it on their site complete with the links to your site in the resource box at the bottom of the article.

Action Steps

  • Research good keywords
  • create keyword rich benefit laden titles
  • Write 300 - 500 word articles focused around each keyword phrase
  • Edit your article and article title
  • Submit your articles to article directories

If you would like to get your articles into lots of directories quickly, consider using an article submission service like Article Marketer and get masses of exposure and lots of search engine rank boosting exposure.

If you follow these steps and make sure every article you write is written around the right keyword phrases, you will get a steadily increasing flow of free search engine traffic to your site.

If you have a website or blog and you’d like more vistors, or if you plan to have a website soon, I’d like to offer you How To Get More Visitors To Your Website for free so that you can discover where to put your keywords for maximum SEO effect.

Repurpose Your Content for Maximum Results

e-bookWelcome to Day 7 of the Lieurance-King Spring 2009 Article Challenge!

By now, writers who have accepted this challenge have written at least a few articles and submitted them to online article directories.

But it’s always a good idea to repurpose some of that content for maximum results.

One way to do that is to compile some of your related articles into a free e-book for people who sign up for your mailing list.

It just takes four or five good articles to make a nice e-book by putting these articles into one file, then turning that file into a .pdf document.

Try it!

NOTE: If you’ve accepted the Lieurance-King Spring 2009 Article Challenge, let us know by leaving a comment here. Then, come back each day and leave another comment so we know what progress you’re making!

Yikes! So far, looks like Kelly is the only person who has accepted the challenge. But I know other writers have signed up for the 21 Day e-course. If you were one of those writers, I hope you’re using the e-course to write some articles. Let us know!

Happy writing!
